It is not always easy to navigate through the menopause period. Menopause comes with physical and mental changes, which can be distractive. The worst thing is that these changes come at a time when women face various challenges related to lack of time, too much work, and taking care of their loved ones.

Thus, they have less time for themselves. Well, it is not all doom! There are some things you can do as a woman to manage menopausal symptoms. Please continue reading to learn more about these tricks to help you live a happy life.

1. Eat Healthy Food and Exercise More

Eating healthy does not mean eating much. You know, at this time, body metabolism slows down, making many women gain weight. We would recommend eating a Mediterranean diet and exercising more as it will not only prevent you from contracting heart diseases but also manage other complications and help your brain to remain healthy.

But I have no time for the gym? Don’t worry! You can start from anywhere with vigorous aerobic exercise for about seven minutes. I mean, just exercise anywhere for about 10-minute time slots.

2. Keep your Intimate Relationship Healthy

During the menopause period, most women tend to lose their intimate relationship. However, this can only worsen the situation. With or without intercourse, a healthy relationship is essential. Discuss with your partner on how to revive your love relationship during menopause.

You can as well talk to your healthcare provider. At this time, most women experience pain during intercourse. Don’t hesitate to talk about this with your partner. Perhaps, you can try moisturizers and lubricants. The idea is for both of you to enjoy as enjoyment can make you go through menopausal symptoms.

3. Avoid Trigger Foods

Did you know that some food can trigger menopausal symptoms? Yes, foods that are high in caffeine, spicy food, sugary food, and alcohol trigger hot flashes, mood swings, and night sweats and should therefore be avoided. Some people say that you should only avoid them at night when going to bed, but we recommend avoiding them altogether if possible.

Still, other foods can trigger your menopause symptoms that are not on our list. It would help if you keep a symptom diary and note down that food. Then, reduce the consumption of any food that you note is contributing to this problem.

4. Drink Enough Water

You probably are aware of the importance of drinking more and enough water. But, did you know that it can help you manage menopausal symptoms? It is common knowledge that women experience dryness during menopause due to decreased estrogen levels in the body.

Thus, it is recommendable to drink about 8-12 glasses of water every day to help manage the symptoms. Hormonal changes during menopause also lead to bloating and drinking enough water reduces bloating. Also, you won’t gain unnecessary weight if you drink enough water as it usually happens to many women during menopause.

5. Take Natural Supplements

There are certain supplements that many women take to relieve their menopausal symptoms. While we have no problem with supplements, we strictly advise you to stick to natural supplements only. Kin any case, the evidence behind many of these supplements is not only weak but also narrow. Thus, it is only advisable to seek advice from your doctor before using any supplement.

6. Maintain a Healthy Weight

Due to a combination of several changing factors such as hormonal imbalance, ageing, and lifestyle, weight gain is typical during menopause. Gaining excess weight is risky as it contributes to increased risk of contracting other infections such as diabetes and heart disease. Still, increased weight usually affects your menopause symptoms. You are wondering how to lose weight during menopause? Simple! Exercise regularly drink a lot of water and eat a balanced diet and a lot of vegetables. If you do all this and you are still overweight, it is advisable to consult your doctor for more recommendations.

7. Get Enough Sleep

We all know how unruly sleep patterns can become when women are going through the menopause period. When going to bed, it is advisable to dress in lightweight clothes to improve sleep efficiency. Still, you should avoid using heavy blankets, which are insulating as too much heat can affect your sleep behaviour and worsen the menopause. Perhaps, you should install a fan or air conditioning in your bedroom if it is too hot.

Menopause symptoms are manageable. After all, it is not an illness. It is just a natural part of life. Most women indeed find it difficult to deal with menopause problems.
